HeadPeace

HeadPeace is designed to minimize radiation exposure in the upper section of the head. A recent study demonstrates that the combination of HeadPeace and the novel MindPeace (patent pending, 10MD, Sweden) is effective at reducing brain exposure. HeadPeace is currently available in 0.25mm Pb. It is EC certified according to the EU Regulation 2016/425 on personal protection equipment (PPE) and tested according to the IEC 61331:2014. Only for sale in Europe.

The CE mark shows that HeadPeace meets the safety and performance requirements for personal protection equipment (PPE). The intended use for HeadPeace is to reduce the cranial exposure to ionizing radiation in clinical interventions. Especially for long duration procedures. NOT for nuclear/gamma use. HeadPeace 0.25 mm Pb complies with IEC 61331:2014 and is certified in accordance with EU Regulation 2016/425. HeadPeace is available in three different sizes. Choose size based on head circumference, as detailed below.

A pilot study to evaluate the ability of HeadPeace to reduce radiation doses to the operator’s head in clinical routine interventions was performed by researchers at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Sweden. Thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) were positioned to measure scattered radiation towards the operator's head during X-ray guided interventions. In total, 42 measuring points at different positions were used on the inside and outside of HeadPeace. The TLDs were worn for a month. The absorbed dose was significantly lower on the inside of HeadPeace, compared to nearest measuring points outside HeadPeace (p-value < 0.01). The researchers concluded that HeadPeace reduces radiation exposure by up to 20 times towards the operator’s head in clinical routine interventions.

HeadPeace was recently clinically proven for its functionality and usability in clinical environments. Researchers at the Centre for Health Technology Halland (HCH), Halmstad University, Sweden, investigated how HeadPeace affects anthropometric, biomechanic and ergonomic parameters during clinical interventions. They concluded that 100% of the respondents experienced great functionality and usability of HeadPeace in clinical environments:

• Comfortable
• Easy to use
• Adequate fit and compatible with eyeglasses
• No negative effect on head and work postures
